A recently published list of the world’s top two per cent researchers by statistician John Ioannidis and his team at Stanford University determined the top 2% of all researchers using 6 standardized citation metrics via Scopus. 17 researchers from all four departments at Lassonde were listed as part of the top 2% of all researchers worldwide.
The published database in PLOS Biology recognized more than 80 researchers across York University, with Lassonde researchers making up 20% of the faculty on this list at York University! Additionally, of all the women from York University on this list, 33% of them are researchers from Lassonde!
This honour is a testament to the trailblazers who are leading the way at Lassonde and making significant impact with their research. The expertise recognized ranged in themes from computer vision and structural engineering to atmospheric science and space technology. The study classified individuals across 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields.
From the department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science the following professors were recognized (top recognized subfield in brackets): Scott Mackenzie (Human Factors), Hui Jiang (Speech Language Pathology & Audiology), Richard Wildes, John Tsotsos, James Elder, Aijun An and Michael Brown (Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing), Peter Lian and Amir Sodagar (Electrical & Electronic Engineering), Ping Wang and Andrew Eckford (Networking & Telecommunications).
From the department of Earth and Space Science and Engineering the following professors were recognized (top recognized subfield in brackets): Peter Taylor and Gordon Shepherd (Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences) and Jinjun Shan (Aerospace & Aeronautics).
From the department of Civil Engineering the following professors were recognized (top recognized subfield in brackets): Stavroula Pantazopoulou (Civil Engineering) and Satinder Brar (Biotechnology).
From the department of Mechanical Engineering the following professor was recognized(top recognized subfield in brackets): George Zhu (Aerospace & Aeronautics).
